Dr. Tandeka Burks, MD

A native of Alabama, Dr. Burks received her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.

She came to North Carolina for medical training at Duke/Southern Regional Area Health Education Residency and obtained a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health.

In her 20-plus years of practice in primary care, she has served in academia, private medicine, emergency medicine, and community medicine. Community medicine is her favorite because she gets to conversate and care for those she lives, works, and prays with daily.

When she is not working, she takes care of her two children alongside her husband. They travel when they can and follow their children in sports activities.
